There is nothing quite like Cowes Week, the oldest and largest annual sailing regatta in the World and an iconic feature of the British sporting calendar.
The event boasts an 8-day schedule combining competitive racing and great fun for the 8,000 competitors racing and 100,000 spectators who enjoy a fantastic line up of shore-side entertainment day and night. Visitors can watch the sailing action from the shore or opt to get out on the water aboard a spectator boat.
The famous fireworks take place on the final Friday of the event. With so much to see and do, keep track of the event plans as they develop in the build-up to 10th – 17th August via the official site:
These sailing days for Cowes Week 2020 will appeal to both sailors and newcomers alike and are perfect for team building, hen and stag parties or a group of friends. You can spend the day pulling on ropes or helming the yacht, or just relax and watch all the excitement from the comfort of your own yacht…
You will join the yacht and meet the skipper/instructor and the other crew. You will be shown around the boat, and, after a safety briefing will set sail.
If you wish you can be involved ‘hands-on’ from the beginning and might even find yourself helming the boat down the Solent.
All Venture Sailing skippers are chosen for their experience, patience and understanding. They will show you how to do everything from the beginning so that you are able to participate right from the start.
Although you will be working and exercising as part of a crew you will be given individual guidance and instruction. As each hour passes you will acquire new skills and grow in confidence.
The atmosphere aboard is relaxed, and the emphasis is on having fun – exactly what sailing is supposed to be.

Most of our trips do not have a single supplement. This means that the accommodation is on a twin share basis and, if you are travelling on your own, you will be sharing a room with another traveller of the same sex. Some tours have an optional single supplement or rarely a mandatory single supplement.
An optional service that may be available is called “My Own Room”. This service allows solo travellers to request their own private room while on tour. The cost and the details vary by trip, so please refer to each trip summary page for details.
Travelers arrive from all over the world to begin our tours and it is not possible to include international airfare in our prices. We would be happy to help you arrange flights. Just ask for an air quote when making your booking.
It’s extremely difficult if not impossible to join a tour after it has begun. It is possible to leave a tour early however you will be responsible for your own arrangements from the moment you decide to leave the tour. You would also be responsible for all costs associated with joining a tour late or leaving one early. If you feel this may be necessary please consult a G Adventures Specialist before you book your adventure.
